A Day in Seattle

See all the best sights in Seattle in one day?  Yeah, I took that challenge and nailed it!  My first visit to Seattle was for a conference so I had limited time to sightsee, but if you ask me I did a pretty great job.  I stopped by popular tourist attractions and some others that were off the beaten path, and I seriously wouldn’t change a thing about what I did since it was that great.  Well that’s a lie.  I’d give myself some time in Seattle!  It was such a tease to see Mount Rainer in the backdrop and know that I didn’t have enough time to explore the nature side of Seattle.  But, this just means I have a reason to go back!  For now, I’ll dive into what I did in the heart of the city so you can have an amazing trip too!

Pike Place Market

Located on the Seattle waterfront, this place really is worth all the hype it gets.  And yes, there really is flying fish!  Spend your morning or afternoon exploring the market, but be sure to give yourself plenty of time since everything closes by 6 pm.  See the fishermen throwing their fish, take a stroll through the colorful and sweet-smelling flower shops, and appreciate the artistry behind the unique craftsmen shops.  If you’re not a germophobe, then stop by the famous gum wall and leave your mark!

If there’s one thing you have to do, it’s stop for a bite at Pike Place Chowder! This is truly the best chowder I’ve ever had and is ranked #1 in the US.

Ready for a drink?  Go into Pike Place Brewery and sample their selections.  This place is HUGE and with multiple different themed bars so you can take some time to sit back, relax, and get a drink.

Starbucks Reserve Roastery

Alright, here’s the biggest tip I can give you: skip going to the first Starbucks.  It’s a complete tourist trap!  The space is small with huge lines, and honestly you can get their coffee at any store.  Instead, stop by the Starbucks Reserve Roastery to enjoy a unique tasting experience.  You can see the entire behind the scenes process of coffee making and experiment with some coffee cocktails if you’re up for it.  This is a huge space that offers a relaxing environment to sit back and unwind.  I started my morning off here with a coffee and did some people watching in my seat by the window.

Have been to Seattle? Let me know what you’ve done and loved so I can try it next time I’m there!
